　　No one can deny the irreplaceable position of television in people’s lives in this present-day society. With a growing number of TV channels emerging in TV sets, optimists of this issue assert that TV programs will definitely bring them more enjoyment, whereas the pessimists suppose that an increasing number of low quality TV programs will be what people can only see by the screens of their living rooms.

　　Not only can people gain relaxation from watching TV in their sofa, but also watching TV has been the most dominant method for people to access to necessary information. Some others even use TV sets to learn some skills or doing other things. Hence, more TV channels can offer more abundant information for various audiences. Sports channels will always be the first choice for sports fans, and meanwhile news channels are invariably ready for who want to know what is happening domestically and internationally. What people need to do is buying more TV sets for their family members to avoid them fighting over the remote control.  

　　On the other hand, people with pessimistic views to this phenomenon would like to argue that more TV channels can only lead to the increase of low quality TV programs. Actually, more TV channels do provide audiences more choices, and thus arouse more competition in this industry. Producers of TV programs will rack their brain to find out attractive ideas to catch audiences’ eyeballs. Simultaneously, companies making TV programs will be willing to invest more fund in order to produce competitive programs. By analogy, appearance of low quality TV programs is what those people mistakenly foresee. Competition is the original driving force for advancement of an industry.

　　On the basis of the above discussion, unquestionably the populace do profit from watching a various variety of TV channels, and meanwhile what they can enjoy is TV programs that are much more splendid than before but not shoddy ones.
